It is cold here, and DARK!
This past Saturday night we turned our clocks back for daylight savings time. Now instead of seeing the sun go down at 6:00 it is completely dark at 5…. *sigh*
It seems that at the same instant we turned our clocks back, the weather also took a turn and it is suddenly WINTER! The [...]

Breaking News: Man riding stuffed cow buys beers for all
Posted in Uncategorized on October 27, 2008 | Leave a Comment »
“Huh, I have never seen that before.” That was my reaction when I walked out of King’s College only to see an ‘older’ man riding a stuffed highland cow that was being carried by the University rugby team. Odd things happen all the time over here (odd by our standards anyway) but this shoots right [...]
“Only in America….”

It has been interesting to live overseas the past 2+ years and really get a sense of what the British/Scottish think of America as a country, and Americans as a people. Questions like: “Will I get shot if I visit Miami?” Or: “Why do Americans always talk so loud?!?” Or: “Why do Americans drive such BIG cars”??? At times we have felt [...]
The Countdown Chain

We have begun the final countdown for our journey back to “Merica” as Hannah calls it.
This past week we made a chain with a link for each day before “D-Day” (Departure Day). I think it was just as much for Hannah’s sake who couldn’t really grasp that there are several more sleeps before we leave, [...]
Fall Walks to Remember (part 1)
Posted in Uncategorized on October 23, 2008 | 1 Comment »
We have taken every opportunity over the last several weeks to get out for walks when the weather is nice (which has seemed a bit more sporatic than we would like due to the wind, rain and cold weather).
Sometimes the walks take us to the sea, but lately we have enjoyed a few nice jaunts around Old [...]

The crown has finally been unveiled and has once again been restored to some of it’s original glory!
The Crown Tower of King’s College, which has been labeled as one of Aberdeen’s best known and photographed landmarks is once again free from the unsightly scaffolding and loud clanging that has reverberated through out Old Aberdeen for the last 7 months.
Work was needed [...]

“Tattie Holidays”

We are currently half way through “Tattie holidays” (a two week break children have every October) which is when kids back in the day were kept home in order to help harvest potatoes.
The first week Hannah was kept active having her Grammy and Poppie here for a visit. Now as we start week #2 we are trying to come up with creative ways to [...]
sweet smiles

It has been a bit tricky getting smiles with our camera until now. It seems that the last week her little personality has developed SO much. We often get lots of coo’s and stories. Still waiting to get a full laugh, although Kent is sure he heard the start of one.
Doesn’t she just make you want to squeeze [...]
